21st JANUARY 2022 - FIELD OR HOUSE MOUSE?

Yesterday I spotted a dead mouse in the garden, and my first thought was how excited my kids would be to see this little critter in real life!! Rather than popping it in a bag to throw away, i left it so they could have a good look at this little thing, which i must say is adorable!!

Once we had got over the initial difficult questions of 'will it wake up' and 'why did it die' , we were able to get a good look at this cute little thing, that really one would very rarely see in real life, as they are nocturnal. One of my boys even got out his magnified glass to get a really good look. We were able to see how very tiny they are, their little feet and ears, and then of course was it a field mouse or a house mouse.

Thankfully it was a field mouse, as I was able to look up the differences between the two.
